Established in 1999, The Perry Studio’s signature style can be traced to such influences as Paul Rand, Chermayeff & Geismar as well as Edward R. Tufte. Perry Studio founder, Daniela Perry studied under the tutelage of these prominent designers. Their impact is evident in the firm’s clean, timeless designs as well as its intuitive ability to structure user interfaces, so that viewers will be able to quickly access, without losing interest, the precise information they desire. These elements combined with Ms. Perry’s background form the basis for The Perry Studio’s classic style with a modern twist.

About Daniela Perry
Born and reared in Italy, Daniela Perry’s earliest exposure to fine art came from her father, Charles O. Perry, a renowned artist and sculptor. His works appear at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC and reside in the collection of The Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Majoring in design and photography, Ms. Perry received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1989 from The Cooper Union (New York). While working toward her master’s degree in fine arts from Yale University, Ms. Perry began her tenure as a freelance designer for Chermayeff & Geismar, Inc. from 1988 to 1990. She also participated in summer art programs at the Rhode Island School of Design as well as the Yale University summer program in Brissago, Switzerland under the guidance of Paul Rand, Armin Hoffman, Richard Sapper and Pierre Mendell. From 1987 to 1988, Ms. Perry supplemented her fine arts training through the Allgemeine Gewerbeschule Student Exchange Program (Switzerland).

Upon her graduation from Yale in 1991, Ms. Perry returned to Chermayeff & Geismar. For the next two years, she acted as Art Director, developing logos and brand identities as well as print collateral for various mediums and clients including I.M. Pei, National Sports Award (televised on NBC), Mobil Corporation, Big Apple Circus and Queens Museum of Art. Ms. Perry went on to create five distinct brand identities for an international corporation before venturing into designing seasonal promotional materials for organizations such as JCPenny.

With a keen interest in combining her fine arts background with the surge in technology during the late 1990’s, Ms. Perry assumed the role of Director of Creative Services at America Online (AOL). In this position, Ms. Perry played a key role in developing AOL’s new brand identity. She personally designed the logos for AOL.com, Net find, Net Mail, Classified Plus, Neighborhood Watch, You’ve Got Pictures and AOLTV. Additionally, Ms. Perry drafted the AOL style guide, a tool designed to assist clients and their creative teams in complying with the new look and feel of AOL.

Throughout her career, Ms. Perry has been recognized for her outstanding artistic abilities. She was a recipient of The Alice Kimball Award, a student fellowship at the Yale School of Art as well as the recipient of a four-year scholarship to The Cooper Union and a student scholarship award to Allgemeine Gewerbeschule.
